The Dynamics of a Predator-Prey Age-Structured Model
Chase Morgan-Floyd, Vassar College ’18 and Prof. Lynn ScowIn this project, we investigate a unique predator-prey system that involves a predator population age structure. Our model consists of a three-dimensional nonlinear system of differential equations, with variables for prey, immature predator, and mature predator. Analysis of system dynamics through computer simulation in Mathematica enables us to examine various bifurcations that occur over continuous time intervals, as well as determine the coexistence point, or equilibrium, where both species can sustain life in an environment.
